Description

  • Description:

Escape Florence in just 15 minutes and ride into the Tuscan hills.

This half-day bike tour takes you just outside the city, where traffic fades and the landscape opens into olive groves, villas, and quiet country roads of the noble Florentine hills.

It’s one of our longest-running experiences, refined over 30 years and designed to give you a real taste of Tuscany without taking up your whole day!

WHY THIS BIKE RIDE IS GREAT

    • Easy access to the countryside directly from Florence (only 10 minutes riding in the Florentine nice suburbs!)
    • Small groups (max 10 riders)
    • Well-balanced route with views, riding, and a relaxed countryside stop
    • Local products tasting at a small olive oil producer - with wine, cold cuts, olive oil and bread.
    • Suitable for most riders, with an e-bike option available as an upgrade

    THE ROUTE

Our ride starts in our offices in the quiet and non-touristy Oltrarno district of Central Florence, and after choosing the best bike for you, we quickly head toward Porta Romana, the greatest historic gate of Florence, for the first interesting historic curiosity!

From here, we get to the first uphill! It’s steady but manageable, and your guide sets a comfortable pace for the group.

Once at the top, the surroundings change completely, as we get to the amazing Villa Poggio Imperiale, historically owned by the Medici family and the doorway to the beautiful countryside.

From now on, the route continues along quiet roads through olive groves and stone walls, with open views and very little traffic.

    THE RIDE EXPERIENCE

This is not a fast or technical ride.

The focus is on enjoying the surroundings, riding at a relaxed pace, and taking time to stop when it’s worth it.

Your guide will share context along the way, but the experience is mainly about being outside, moving through the landscape, and seeing a different side of Florence.

    THE TASTING STOP

Midway through the tour, you’ll stop at a small, local olive oil producer.

Here you’ll have a simple tasting that typically includes:

    • Extra virgin olive oil produced on-site
    • A glass of local wine
    • Bread and a selection of Tuscan products

The focus is on quality and authenticity rather than a formal tasting format.

It’s a chance to sit down, relax, and enjoy the setting before continuing the ride.

    PANORAMIC STOP

Before returning to Florence, the tour includes a stop at San Miniato al Monte.

This is one of the highest and most scenic viewpoints over the city, offering a clear and open view without the crowds found in more central locations.

    BIKE OR E-BIKE

The route includes some elevation, especially in the first part.

E-bikes are a popular choice and make the ride more comfortable, particularly on the climb.

    • Regular bike: more active ride
    • E-bike: easier and more relaxed

    IS THIS TOUR FOR YOU?

✔ You want to see the countryside without committing a full day
✔ You’re comfortable riding a bike for a few hours
✔ You prefer a relaxed pace over a sporty ride

✘ Not ideal if you’re not comfortable on a bike
✘ Not suitable if you’re looking for a completely flat route

    IN SHORT

A well-paced ride that combines light activity, countryside scenery, and a simple local tasting, all within easy reach of Florence.
