This is our most popular bike experience in Florence, the tour that first introduced many travellers to our way of exploring Tuscany by riding beyond the city and into its surrounding hills. This tour is the ideal way to escape churches, museums, and city crowds – and dive into the real heart of the Florentine hills.
We start from our office in the less touristy Oltrarno district. From here, in just a few minutes, you’ll see the difference between the urban cityscape and the rolling countryside on a 4-hour bike ride. The first part of the tour lasts about one hour, passing through Porta Romana, the only city gate still framed by the original 13th-century walls. Our first climb (1.3 km / 0.8 mi) winds through a quiet residential area. Once at the top, Florence feels far away, and the Tuscan countryside begins to open up. This is the longest climb of the day; the other three are shorter and much easier.
Riding along narrow ancient roads, we’ll stop for photos and to learn about local flora and fauna. Reaching our countryside venue, surrounded by olive groves, your guide will introduce you to traditional wine and olive oil making. Then comes the tasting: a glass of local Chianti wine, extra virgin olive oil, fresh Tuscan bread, and a selection of local cold cuts.
On the return, we’ll pass through an ancient Tuscan village where Galileo Galilei once lived and see his star observatory. Before descending back into Florence, we stop at the San Miniato al Monte Church, where one of the best city views (and a perfect selfie spot) awaits. The final stretch is all downhill into Florence’s historic center, and if time allows, your guide may even take you to their favorite gelato shop.
Not just a bike tour, but a deeper way to experience Florence beyond its monuments and crowds.

- Optional E-bike upgrade: €20 per person (minimum age 14 years, minimum height 150 cm) - contact us in advance!
- Food requirements: please inform us in advance of allergies, intolerances, or dietary restrictions (vegetarian and vegan options available).
- Families with children under 14: the tour can be booked only as a private experience. Please provide ages and heights when booking.
- Safety note: all participants must be confident bike riders and in good physical condition. The tour takes place on roads shared with traffic. For safety reasons, we reserve the right to exclude participants who are not fit for the activity.
- Not recommended for those with mobility issues, heart conditions, or other physical limitations.
