My husband and I were in Italy for 2 weeks and this bike tour was absolutly one of the greatest things we did. It was a wonderful break from the crowds, typical tours and the city in general. We were picked up by Bill in his adorable Fiat from the 1970's and he drove my husband and I out to Tuscany. What's pretty exciting is that we were the only two on the tour that day and as a result we were able to share that we were foodies and Bill tailored the trip to us. We ate asparagus from a vine, we picked cherries from a random cherry tree, we stopped to smell wild rosemary and garlic and even saw artichoke plants.
We arrived at a local family villa where we saw how they made their wine, grappa and special raisin based liquor. We had a simple and fantastic bruschetta and pasta lunch and hoped back on our bikes. We road down to a small, family owned gelato shop and ended our day at a local watermelon/fruit stand on the ride back to Florence.
The bike ride itself had it's challenging moments but it was a good blend of up and downhill and was a great workout for all of the food and wine we consumed.
I can tell that Bill really loves his job and from reading the other reviews you can see that this particular tour company tailors each day to the group. He and my husband hit it off from the start so Bill was a definite factor to this being such a great experience.
I would recommend this experience to everyone and actually say it's a "must do" when you visit Florence!
